KWS Door handles: Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

Get answers to frequently asked questions about our door handles.

What is the dimension L?

The dimension L describes the centre distance between two supports. It is always measured from the centre of one to the centre of the other support.

What is the maximum centre distance?

When configuring a door handle, the following maximum centre distances must be noted. If these distances are exceeded, we do not assume any guarantee as long as no third fastening point is used.

Is PVD coating possible?

As an alternative to conventional brass door handles, we offer stainless steel door handles on request that are coated in a brass colour using a PVD (physical vapour deposition) process. This process allows an attractive combination of decorative brass surface and resistant stainless steel handle. Cleaning products are no longer required to maintain such a door handle.

What is the modular system and what advantages does it offer?

The innovative KWS modular system was first introduced in 1996 and has been continuously developed and expanded since then. It opens up the possibility of placing the manufacture of door handles in the hands of the user: The system’s inter-compatible modules only need to be assembled and fastened together – an equally efficient and flexible solution with maximum freedom of design.

The modular system includes various supports, which give the series their names, stainless steel and timber handles in standard lengths or made to measure, as well as fixings and decorative end caps. Up to a handle length of 3.000 mm, no mid support is required. Of course, the door handles can also be ordered fully pre-assembled at the factory.

For series WS (angular support with socket), RS (round support with socket) and KS-30 (edged support), the supports cover the cut tube ends, which means that miscuts of approx. 5 mm per side can be compensated. In the WS2 / WS4 series (angular support with socket, components made of V2A or V4A stainless steel), the tube ends are visible and should therefore be cut precisely.
